if you wan to really do some good recording you can do it for $100 or less. really you will never get a great sound unless you buy a soundcard basic would be a soundblaster then you would want a small behringer mixer for $39 and any mic. the previous answer was the best without spending any money although if you hace a built in mic or pc mic that might even be better. you'll have a natural room revrerb and it'll sond small but it wont be so distorted. in oreder to get a good sound from an amp with a line output it really needs to be a modelling amp because then they simulate speaker sound. GOOD LUCK!

NO....
Not the MIC input (pink), the AUX in input (blue)
Check out instructions at:

Although essentially for recording from vinyl/cassette, the same principles apply to any external analogue source. Balance your gain (volume of your amp) with the sliding fader controls on your on board soundcard (Windows) START, All programs, accessories, entertainment, volume control.
You can download the guide and free Audacity software at:

Hope this helps and that you get some good results

i detect that the only time i will particularly hear the version is with a rapidly evaluation. Like enjoying a song on your place stereo then the subsequent song on your computing device. yet then i will additionally tell whilst there's a intense technology mp3. this is purely like dubbing tapes as a new child. the 1st replica sounds rather solid, yet then you definitely dub that replica and then dub the 2d and so on at last it sounds rather susceptible. I even have been waiting to observe on occasion a difference on my computing device between the severe intense and occasional mp3 bitrates or despite. i'm particularly a CD guy too and that i will on no account end paying for discs; I even have over 1500 titles on 3 cabinets in 2 rooms in my abode so at this component logical or no longer i'm committed. yet whether you have an ipod or despite or purely burning information discs with a bands entire catalog to your automobile the mp3 is handy as hell.

stop it! use your mic input in the back of your computer. Download Audicity which is free and use that to record. You can adjust your volume input levels so it doesnt sound like muffled crap. You really need a soundcard, but for now use your mic input for mics and your audio input for other things.
