They were showing a charity benefit locally and they did not show Crossing Jordan. I heard one of the main characters was going to be killed off?

I watched the show too I tivo'd it while watching so my husband could see it later. Ive seen it twice now and nobody died. The reporter guy Pollack that Jordan dated a little bit was dead but thats all unless I missed something somehow

The person that was killed was actually on the previous season's ender, namely her on/off boyfriend reporter who Jordan woke up next to in a pool of his blood.
The season premiere that aired last week was a continuation of that story arc. She goes to Washington DC as a fugitive and Miguel Ferrer's character goes to DC as well to find her.
In addition, this season's premiere brought in a new female character medical examiner that looks like she may be taking over eventually as the one that runs the unit and is all their boss (Jordan, Niles, Woody), putting out Miguel Ferrer.

I watched it, and I didn't see a main character get killed off. They figured out who really killed Jordan's "boyfriend," and they cleared Jordan of the crime.

Jordon's boyfriend, the journalist, was killed off. She is trying to find out who killed him and in the process getting herself in trouble.
