Do I think we'll have a black, hispanic, asian, or female president... It is very possible that all four will be elected eventually. As it is now Hillary Clinton could very possibly be our next president (though I'm not thrilled with her politics), Obama seems ready to make a strong run at the Democratic nomination (though I doubt he'd win the presidency since too many conservatives are closet/overt racists), and let's not forget Bill Richardson who is Hispanic and is also running for the Democratic nomination - he is fairly unknown right now, but I think he would make an excellent candidate and President. Watch Richardson over the next year as I think he has a decent shot if he articulates his ideas well enough.
The Democrats have a long history of running minority candidates... Almost all (all?) black members of congress are Democrats, the Democrats ran with a female Vice Presidential candidate in 1984, and the Democrats were the first to run robots as candidates for president (see Al Gore/John Kerry).
As for "should" we have a female/black/hispanic/asian president -- well that depends on the candidate. Hillary Clinton seems like a fairly plastic and power hungry person - not somebody I will be voting for in 2008. Obama seems like an intelligent guy, but I'm always wary of politicians that have a lot of hype in the news about them. It all seems very staged, and nobody every seems to talk about what kind of policies Obama would impliment if he was elected. Richardson is a moderate liberal and I have always been impressed when I heard him speak. Unlike senator Clinton, Richardson had the sense to be against the Iraq war from the begining - yet he is just as moderate as Clinton on most other issues. He really seems like a person in politics in order to make people's lives better - which is very attractive.
The way I see it, if the female/black/asian/hispanic candidate is the best option I see for the Presidency then I would say they deserve to be elected - if they're not qualified then they don't deserve to be elected. Same goes for the typical white-christian-male candidates.

I am a white male and I firmly believe that at some point there will be a woman president as well as minority presidents. Do I think it will happen anytime soon? NO.
This is why I feel this way. Until minorities and women stop using their gender or race as what qualifies them to be President
then will never gain enough public support.
Whether you want to accept it or not the vote of white males is needed. They are the ones who control the most of the money in the country. You have to have money to be elected.
I get tired of hearing about I want to be the first woman or minority elected to be President. You can't be a President just for you own demographic.
I think this nation needs more diversity in our government. We need to have women and minorities be President. I think overall it would be benefical. They are just as qualified as any white male and in many cases even more qualified. They have had to fight to get to where they are and don't feel a sense of entitlement and I think they would work harder for the good of the nation as long as they put the nation before gender and race.
If a woman were elected and se tried to push through laws that were mostly benefical to women it would hurt any future chances of women being elected. Just like if a minority President focused the majority of his efforts on benefitting his or her racial group would hurt any gains that had been made up to that point.
Yes there is definitely racism and sexism in this country, but that works both ways. I am tired of the belief that it is only white males who practice these forms of discrimination. I have seen and known countless women who are openly sexist and proud of it. I have known and still know African Americans who are violently anti-white and don't care who knows it. I don't see these people being criticized in the media. But let a white male do it and it makes national headlines. I hear about white men being prosectued for hate crimes all the time, but when was the last time you heard of a minority member being prosecuted for hate crime against whites?

An intelligent, wise and Patriotic American voter will NEVER vote on conditions of colour, breed, culture, or gender. Only the follow-the-masses nicompoop who has no intelligence or brains to explore for themselves whether a Candidate is one who will bring the very best for the nation and ALL its citizens, will do so.
It's time, in this modern age when even Senators can be easily bribed to kiss foreign special interests' asses, and in this modern age of terrorism, and in this modern age when we're seeing America being sold away by those kissers of foreign butts, the People of America should demand that no Candidate for the White House, the Judiciary System, the House or the Senate, should be allowed to hold dual citizenships. No man who swears allegiance to more than one Flag, can be expected to serve America as an American Patriot with interest for American and the American People. Anyone having more than one citizenship can be expected to be a WOBBLER and should never be trusted to do what's best and right for America.
Demand to know if any of the 2008 candidates has dual citizenships and reject those holding dual citizenships.
Vote the one who is a true American Patriot... not one who needles and fiddles to the tunes of foreign interests and throwing away promises of a share of America's wealth that should be maintained, protected, and secured for the benefits of the American People.
Color, creed, or gender of the Candidate should not matter. It's the Candidate's patriotism, wisdom. honesty, honor, intelligence and integrity that should matter. Never judge a book by its cover. It's what's inside the 'book' that matters.
I'm not giving up hope on John Edwards...

I think we will definetly either have a female president or a black president in 2008 because Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama are running in the 2008 elections.

Hold on to your hat honey If Americans have half a brain HILLARY Will be our next president. We will have health care for everyone and we won't be at war with Middle Eastern nations. We will have tax breaks for invention and use of alternative fuels and our country will once again have a surplus instead of billions of dollars of debt. Can;t Waite till BUSH is a bad memory from the past. All I do is pray pray pray that he will not make anymore tragic decisions (out of Gods' will) that our next president is going to have to overcome before she can begin to handle the issues of OUR country .

I believe in these United States of today, anything is possible. I personally don't think that race, color or be it man or woman has anything to do with it. I vote for the person I feel will do the job to the best of their ability. The only woman I know of that is running for president is Hilary Clinton. Who knows----anything is possible.

If anyone who fits into one of those groups is worthy of the job, then yes, it'll happen. To many people are hung up on the group instead of the qualifications for doing the job!

I'd say that within your lifetime you will see a black president and a woman president.
Unfortunately, hispanic (latino) and asian politicians are not as widespread in upper gofernment, although upper gov is not a necessity to be elcted president.
Antonio Villaraigosa (LA mayor) is the only one that comes to mind.

Don't kid yourself, race and sex discrimination will always be around. It can't be eliminated, only minimized. Eventually the US will have a non-white and / or non-male president, and it seems that day is drawing ever closer.
