I assume you are in High School. Classes I would recommend to take in High School are advance anatomy. You are going to work with the Human Body you better know where everything is at. Take as many biology classes as you can. Stay away from extra health classes. In High School Health classes are full of useless information. You are going to also need a good understanding of Algebra. Drug dose calculations are based on Algebra. If you can also take an introduction to Psychology class. An understanding of how a person's mind works is also a big help in Nursing.

The fastest way to become an RN is to complete an Associates Degree from a Community College. This is the minimum qualification to take the state licensing exam for RN's. This can take 2 to 4 years. It took me 3 years. If there is a Community College in your town check to see if they have a Registered Nursing Program and ask to see the degree plan for more details regarding the specific classes.

Well I have friends who are nursing majors & I'm pre-law, but believe me I know some of the classes to take @ Ventura College in Ventura, Calif. You need to take chem, biology, microbiology, anatonmy & physiology. Thoes are the basics you should go check with a college counselor, because each school is different for what they require.

The best place to start would be to check out your local community college courses. Many have programs which will help you become an LN which is your first step in getting your RN. CC is affordable and flexible if you are currently working. (My sister did this and she is now an RN making $80k+ a year!)

The best thing to do is to start looking at your community colleges.. It is much cheaper for your basics.. The community college that I went offered an LVN program, for like if you want a place to start.. Most colleges that offer RN programs offer a bridge from LVN to RN.. You just need to look around.. But to save time and money, I would start off at a community college..
