There is an old case study of value choices of a plane carring various passengers headed to crash into a mountain. Who do you throw out first, second, etc. Do you have this case or know where I can find it?

Yes, I used to use this case study when teaching nursing students about the value judgements we make about each other, although I used to use "Throw Them out of The Balloon" [or the lifeboat is a good idea].

You don't need the case study or a script because with a bit of imagination, if it's for teaching purposes [or a bit of sadistic fun], you can make up the characters, e.g. the alcoholic scientist who will die soon of cirrhosis of the liver, at tremendous cost to the NHS, but is making one last business trip to a conference to present his/her work on a cure for cancer.

Or the overweight 45 year old who's never worked and lives on a multitude of benefits, has had two heart attacks, but looks after two children and an elderly relative who the NHS would have to support/look after if he got a job/died - I hope you get the picture - you can just about make up any ethical/value loaded situation for each of your "passengers" and then ask the participants of this game (?) to say who they would save and what criteria they would use - it turns up some frightening prejudices. [my scenarios may be a bit wonky and need refining but I can't sleep because some bank teller at my building society made a huge judgement about me today and I am still seething!]

There was an old movie called Lifeboat or Liferaft about this very thing. Look for it.

Who is there in a civilized society to make such decision?
The rational and civilized person would assess his/her own value in comparison to the group and decide if he/she contributes less, or had lived a full life already and then volunteer himself/herself to save the others. Or not...?

If it's going to crash, why bother to toss anyone out?!

It's got to be the pilot, he caused the emergency and is now surplus to requirements.
