Just curious, because I keep seeing posts that say that liberals are the ones wanting a change of course in Iraq and that liberals are the ones not supporting the President. Last poll I saw said 28% of Americans are happy with the job Bush is doing and feel the country is headed in the right direction. Who are all these people pretending to be liberals?

even conservatives that are dropping their support for the president are being labeled as liberals by the far right.. but I guess when you are that far out to the right everything looks to the left.

I sure do wonder about all these polls. No one that I know has ever gotten a call. So that makes me question the polls. They say that 28% of Americans........I feel that is totally wrong. Until they call ALL of the americans...then they really can't justify their poll. They'll try.....saying it has a margin or error of plus or minus 5%.....but that is still not a true poll, but more of a guesimate. I'm in Iraq now, and we've learned that what is said in the media, it's necessarily the truth. Think about that.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't think that they asked the right questions in that poll.
the way I read it they asked
1. If they thought the president was doing a good job.
this was a pretty straight forward question, with little room for
misunderstanding.
2. if they thought that the country was headed in the wrong direction
I think that people thought of this question and answered it in two different ways.
a. if they were conservatives, they might have thought that the question referred to the new democratic controlled congress
or b. if they were liberals, they were referring to the war.
it sounds like a poorly posed question to me.

No, 72% of the US is not Liberal. Most Cons will not say that they disagree with President Bush, just like most Libs won't admit that what Bill did in office with Monica was wrong (I for one will admit that I, just like Bill would've sinned, but that's a whole other story). The American electorate is tired of the lies, and deceptions, and the FAILED policies of this administration. Most Conservatives are just embarrassed about it...

You're confusing Lib/Con with Dem/Rep and assuming that being either Con or Rep means supporting 100% of what Bush says or does.
I'm a libertarian. The Cons should leave the gays alone and the Libs should leave my wallet alone. I'm not gay and Libertarians usually have little chance of winning a given election, so I end up voting Republican a lot - and in Massachusetts we do get libertarian-style Republicans like Weld sometimes.

An accurate number will be hard to find because the term "liberal", like "conservative", is subjective. I think what's really happened is that "true" conservatives are finally seeing now that the Bush administration is only disguising itself as conservative, to pursue a radical agenda.

72% may not be liberals, it may be that just 72% of the nation is smart. Smart enough to see that Bush is well on his way to destroying this great country.

excellent point that everybody ignores. or better yet, lets blame the "liberal media" or just dismiss the polls and say we dont believe them. it will never end with them. there is always an excuse, somebody elses fault. they need to man up, and admit BUSH SUCKS!!!!
