In my area I would say around $60,000 per year. However, it depends on your needs. Your living expenses should not exceed 50% of your income. I could just as well live in an apartment and drive a less expensive car with lower insurance rates which would greatly decrease my expenses. Of course, all of this depends on what this information is used for. I live in Houston and we have a much lower cost of living than say Chicago or Los Angeles. So, although $60,000 might be comfortable or $30,000 might be comfortable, it will be different depending on your needs and where you live.

This would all depend on where you live. For example, in the Boston area, you would need to have household income of at least $100K to have the basic, yet non-extravagant, suburban life.

In the Norfolk-Virginia Beach, VA area, a very minimum of 70k a year could be considered comfortable for two people. This is mostly because the median VA Beach home price is over 300k.

Two Thousand dollars but hey it is a low income area and in New york you would have to triple that and then some, and my home is paid for so that would enter into the income.
