Try Prescriptives foundations, they're really great :)

They really take time to analyse your skin tone and colour (unlike other brands I've tried where the sales girl just looks at you and says, oh I think you're a shade 4 natural....)

They start by finding out which colour group your skin belongs to - yellow/orange, red/orange, red, blue/red by testing all four kinds (small amounts) on your jawline. They they go through the shades in that colour group.

They have foudations for all types, dry, combination, oily etc.. You can even create your own foundation if none of their 30+ colours are suitable for you. They will match your skin tone exactly!! They will mix colours until they get your correct skin tone colour, then you can decide if you want a moisturising foundation, oil-control, heavy cover, natural etc.... So you can get your very own personalised foundation!

John Lewis, House of Fraser, Selfridges sell it. I have oily skn and use Flawless Skin Foundation - it's definately made my skin so much smoother and healthier. I don't even need to touch up on powder for the whole of the day! Amazing! It's a great base for blusher, bronzer, eye shadows too.

It's a bit pricey (Flawless Skin Foundation was about £28) but definately worth it! It looks great and lasts ages! Worth the money rather than wasting money on lots of not-so-good products!

Actually, I see a lot of people who have this problem. I have heard that the best way is to go to a department store or a store where you can try on the foundation shades and apply the three that look closest to your skin tone so that you can see which one really works. (You should apply them over your jaw line, from your cheek to the very beginning of your neck, because some people use foundations that don't blend in properly and then they end up with an obvious "line" where their neck starts and the foundation ends.) The color that you try on and that blends in to your skin so that you can't see it is the right shade. Some people, especially those with darker complexions, need to use multiple shades to even out their face.

Check out Bobbi Brown's books (she has several) for more advice about trying on shades and evening out tones. Good luck, and remember that most people need a makeup with a yellow base, not a pink or blue-toned one.

No matter what foundation you choose it is important to use a skin care line(no mixing brands-chemical warfair) that consists of cleanser, exfoliator, freshner, moisturizer, SPF, and then protect with foundation. Find yourself a Mary Kay Rep online by zip code at www.marykay.com. Most consultants will come right to your home and teach you what you need to know. Good Luck.

ASK A BEAUTY ADVISOR AT A REGULAR DEPARTMENT STORE NOT A PHARMACY AND STICK WITH MORE UP TO DATE BRANDS BECAUSE OLDER BRANDS ARE REALLY OUT TO DATE AND WILL LEAVE YOU ORANGE AND BLUE
