Here are some of the animes that I like, and my interests are pretty much the same as yours:

Fullmetal Alchemist - all on DVD, 51 eps plus a movie
Fruitsbasket - all on DVD, 26 eps (or 24)
Love Hina - all on DVD, not sure how many eps off the top of my head, plus a couple of movies and specials
Samurai 7 - all on DVD, 24 or 26 eps
Trinity Blood - on DVD up to Vol. 3 and currently airing on Cartoon Network
InuYasha - 160 + eps and airing on Cartoon Network
Saiyuki - they have three series in the Saiyuki epic: Gensomaden Saiyuk, Saiyuki Requiem (the movie), Saiyuki Gunlock and Saiyuki Gunlock Reload. The only romance in this series is between Gojyo and the ladies, but there is a ton of action and comedy
Last Exile - all on DVD, 24 or 26 eps

You can also look for any series that was created/distributed by Bones Entertainment or Gonzo Productions. Wolf's Rain and Last Exile are the best, along with Chrono Crusade. Beware: All three of these series have sad endings, so take tissues with you when you watch.

Good luck, and let the best anime win!

I completely agree with Ami and Lori J, but I have to add Chobits to the list. It only has a tiny bit of action (really not any), but is full of romance and comedy... For lots of action, some romance, and some comedy I highly recommend Elfen Lied.

+ Furuba (Fruits Basket)
++ Azumanga Daioh - not really romancey, and the most action you'll get from this anime is a girl flying through school desks because she's being silly, but it's chalk-full of comedy.
+ Ah! Megamisama! (Oh! My Goddess!)
+ DNAngel
+ Kodomo no Omacha (I think the English title is Kodocha)
+ Rurouni Kenshin
++ Samurai Champloo
++ Chrno Crusade
+ Ouran High School Host Club
+ Wolf's Rain
+ Eureka 7

Uuum, I can't really think of more ... The two plus signs beside the name mean the one's I've seen and loved.

Ranma 1/2 is a good romantic comedy. Tenchi Muyo is also a romantic comedy. Some other romantic comedies are Kare Kano, Maison Ikkuko, Haunted Junction, Greenwood.

Wouldn't hurt to go with one of the classics...Sailormoon :P It's got some romance, some action and plenty of comedy. Can sometimes be a little old fashioned/shallow with some of female stereotypes but a great series nonetheless ^^

Here are a few with links to their websites so you can find out more about them:

Kyo Kara Maoh

(This one has some clips of the show available as well)

Gunslinger Girl

(A personal favorite. Little low on comedy, but just a really great anime.)

I think you should try: Ouran High School Host club!
There's a teency bit of action (okay, well not much at all) but its completely laugh out loud stuff with a nice side order of romance!

Fruits basket as well!
