I'm using my neighbor's router for internet connection on a laptop; I am able to use it when i'm in the basement (full bars) but when i'm upstairs, i also have full bars, why don't i have internet connection? Also why am I unable to get internet from unsecured enabled connections? Thanks.

Because you're cheap and won't buy your own internet access.

It may be that you're picking up a different network if the router is using a default SSID, or there may be interference from other networks, cordless phones, microwave ovens, intervening objects, etc.

As for unsecured connections, are you prompted for whether to connect anyway? You may be configured to not use unsecured connections.
