I think the major problem starts in education, our schools are over populated with one sided opinions (way left). The vietnam era rebellious left are now teaching college, sitting in the courts and leading the media. They have taken over the vast majority of output this nation sees, our judicial system and our educational institution, so it is only a matter of time until we collapse. The only thing we can do to take the country back is to have a moral and cultural revolution, wont happen though. Get out while you still can!

The most recent attempts to destroy the original moral foundations of our government - the separation of church & state (no one religion should hold sway over any government); freedom of religion; freedom of speech - have been made by the Bush administration and the Republican controlled Congress. Illegal wire tapping and the Patriot Act (which monitors all financial transactions but has yet to net one terrorist arrest) are two examples.
I have not seen marriage and heterosexuality labeled anything by the liberal left. Only the extremist right has decided that both are under attack. All the Federal laws passed in this country in the last 6+ years were passed by the Republican controlled Congress - thank them for those laws you don't like. If you don't like a TV show, change the channel; if you don't agree with a Movie and its subject - don't pay to see it. There are plenty of alternatives out there.
Drug addiction was actually more prevalent in the early 1900's - when most people of the upper and middle classes were addicted to heroin and cocaine, both of which were found in everyday products in the US.
Atheism existed long before the United States of America, let alone the "Liberal Left" ever did. Because of the demographics where I live, the majority of badly behaved children that I meet that are from conservative Christian families. Apparently they don't discipline their kids any more or less than any other faith or political bent.
Do the "tough choices" you refer to include the decision to lie to Congress and the American citizens about imaginary weapons of mass destruction in order to start a war?

If all liberals left America the country would be a third world backwater within a year. The liberals are the ones generating the economic, cultural, artistic, political and social forces that make America dynamic and influential in the world. The redneck, neo-con, fundamentalist yahoos that make up the rest of the country are the ones that started the Civil War, that dragged their feet on civil rights, that keep 80 million Americans from getting health care, that are bringing ignorance into the science classes across the country, that nurture hatred and racism, that extoll ignorance and small mindedness, support needless, heedless, greedy aggression against other countries (no turning the other cheek here) and have brought the hatred and derision of the world down on America. Sorry for the big words, neo-cons. Maybe you can find a liberal to dumb down the paragraph above for you so you can understand it.

Where do you get this from? hmmmmm? Show me the stats on your estimates on drug addictions? and on Atheism? and Crime. According to recent census the drug thing is the same but it is also less with the illegal drugs and more of the prescription drugs, like zanax, prozac, zoloft, amitrytalenes? Anti-depressants? And as far as crime it is the same just more people, (Immigrants, drug dealers) Russia, Arabs, Mexicans, Cubans)? Look it up California state prisons???? more Mexicans.
Thanks to the Republicans? Atheism was always here and was more of it with the communist countries, and the ever so popular Nazi regime? What's new about that? With every population increase we will have an increase in those things, but this is the most ignorant statement I have ever read on Yahoo. The Democrats have just gotten into those seats in Congress and all this mess you are talking about is nonsense the Republicans created all of this when Reagan took the seat. You must be real young? thats okay though Read more about those things online.
Go to www.usgovernment.gov and look up who and what they did in the past 25 years in Congress? Then decide on your numbers and who is right or wrong? Go with the facts in history www.history.com

If you actually look you will see that the liberals ARE the foundation of this country. That is why they rebelled against the King! That is why George Washington turned down the chance to be king, and supported a Democracy instead.
Take a copy of the Declaration of Independence to a Republican meeting and see how many people would sign it.
Your sexual problems are just you, not any liberal's fault. If you take a look at all the sexual predators, they are almost all conservative, it goes with the rest of your depraved mindset.

How can you possibly blame a government for all your so-called social ills? You complain if you are over-legislated, and when the government steps in, you complain about what they are doing to your rights!
Take some responsibility for yourself. If you don't like what's on TV, turn it off. Read a book - maybe to your children. Stop worshipping at the feet of the media stars and blaming your government and the 'other' party for all the problems in the country. America has no one to blame but themselves for the nastiness that is all around them - it comes from their need for excess...and now, you are reaping what you sow. Suck it up!

Your question posits a fact that's not proven - it's your opinion. So you really can't ask it as a question as phrased - it's not a valid question.
You could ask "Why do I think this?", and that would be fine.
The rest of your statements are pretty much broadbrush generalizations, isolated facts, misleading, or opinion.
The puppets in Congress are business puppets.
Hollywood plays what makes money, so most people must like what they're turning out.
Every generation since time began has felt that the current generation is taking society to h**l in a handbasket.
I just love how you equate atheism with crime - kind of scary.
When we make more and more things illegal or increase the penalties for braking those laws, yup, it will look like crime is going up, though I think you'd find it a lot tougher to survive on the streets of New York in 1860 than you would today.
I'm sorry you feel this badly, and in a way I sympathize with parts of some of your opinions. But to attack everything you don't personally like, spit it out as one big ball of invective, and blame it all on some theoretical class of people such as "liberals" makes reasonable and logical people run screaming in the other direction.

Your very insightful comments at least give me some hope. I didn't realize there was much left of the foundations of this country to destroy after what the extreme right has done to it over the past decade or so they have been in power in the congress and the pasts 6 years of the Bush administration. Warrantless wiretapping, suspension of Habeas Corpus, secret prisons, invading a country that never attacked or threatened us, a president that governs as a dictator, and people like you who value belief over thinking. But if as you say, there still are some foundations of our country left to destroy, I'm sure your right wing heroes will be working hard at dismantling it. May God have mercy on us all.

Don't be a sucker. Liberals are agents of the right wing. They are led by rich kids who can't help benefiting their birth class, no matter how much they lie to themselve about their sincerity and guilt. Look at the results, not at the claims of being anti-establishment that this Designated Dissent makes.
It is the old Bad Cop, Good Cop charade: the Limousine Liberals pretend to believe in disgusting causes in order to trick you into voting Republican. Mark Foley, Jimmy Swaggart, and Enron is what you get from the Designated Traditionalists, who only pretend to be conservative.
Admit it, you know very well that if we abolished inheritance and cut off every rich kid from his parents permanently at age 18, there would be no Liberals. Wake up! You've been had--politics is a food fight at a prep school. Think for yourself, instead of being channeled into the no-Good Cops by those pretending to be Bad Cops.

Your question sounds more like a statement/rant, but I'd love to comment.
As a conservative myself, I share some of your frustration in what I view as obvious choices. However I also work with and know a lot of liberals in my profession and have had numerous dialogs with them to try and understand their point of view as well as convey mine.
What you and I view as black/white and right/wrong they view as grey. Most of the liberals I've spoken with deny absolute standards of right and wrong which is why their ethical barometer shifts over time. For example their pro-slavery stand in the 1860's vs. their strong civil rights position today. Kennedy's strong military stand against communist Cuba vs. pro-communist liberals today like Peter Singer, John Kerry and Noam Chomsky. Using tax cuts to stimulate the economy in the 1960's vs. opposing them today. Their rules change over time, hence the basic definition of liberal, which is tantamount to "change."
Conservatives are the opposite as we tend to resist change, hence the Websters definition of "conservative." We tend to be more cautious and traditional in our approach to problems. There are of course exceptions in either case, but generally I've found these things to be true.
Rather than aggressively bash my friends and their beliefs as some like Ann Coulter and Michael Savage do, especially those I must work with each day, I try to have short, tactful & logical dialogs with them. Politics and religion are explosive topics and they touch on deep seated convictions which is why people at times are ready to fight over them.
In a sense you are correct, we do speak different languages and we usually learn those languages from our parents when growing up. When we can discuss these things in a positive and open manner, I believe we make a lot more progress as human beings...
