You can't change someone elses attitude and lack of respect for their co workers. Kill him with kindness and keep treating him the way you want and expect to be treated. Although...if he cannot muster up enough energy to say good morning...this is probably not someone you want to be close pals with. There are far more people out there who will treat you the way you want to be treated...go and seek them out!

There were some good responses already posted. The reasons could be a number of things: He could be distracted, it isn't a good morning to him, maybe he doesn't hear you, not a morning person, or he wasn't brought up and comfortable with saying "good morning".
You could try a different approach. Instead of "morning", Say "Hello" for a few days. Give him a smile and see if he smiles back for a few days. Try saying "hello" or "good morning" after he has been in the office for an hour instead of talking to him immediately upon arrival.
If these different approaches do not work, just forget about it. You cannot change another person. Just say "hey!" when you see him and leave it at that.

Maybe the poor guy hates mornings...we aren't all happy and full of sunshine when we have to get up early. Not everybody is the same...just leave him alone. He's just a co-worker anyway...so why do you really care??

Maybe he's shy and doesn't like to make the first move. Or maybe he's not a morning person or is just in his own head and doesn't realize what he is doing. I would just say good morning to him and leave it at that.

Maybe it isnt a good morning. Maybe he isnt a morning person. Like me maybe he finds you annoying. I can understand him not wanting to say "morning" to people. I dont. Like me maybe he has to wake up at 5:00 and get 2 kids ready for school then drive those kids to school. Then, he has to drive to work in heavy traffic. Then when he gets to work he has to listen to your happy *** say "morning" to everyone. Maybe you should try being in someone elses shoes.

JUST BECAUSE A PERSON DOES NOT SAY MORNING DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE ANY LESS RUDE OR MORE RUDE. HE'S PROBABLY JUST A RUDE PERSON AND DOESN'T CARE FOR YOU AT ALL SO ITS IN YOUR BEST INTEREST NOT TO EVEN CONFRONT A PERSON ABOUT WHAT YOU THINK THEY SHOULD SAY TO PEOPLE

some people arent raise dwith that common gesture of courtesy when growing up. i think is rude as well, but keep in mind maybe he doesnt realize it. just ask him to be cordial and greet others in the office like they do to him. tell it would be polite to return the gesture.

Pointing that out to him can be considered by some to be rude itself.
