I am in my late 30's and I'd like to start jogging to stay in shape. What do you reccommend I do?

start by walking some 15 mins everyday (except one day) for 2 weeks, then do some 25 mins for another 2 weeks, then start jogging... 25 mins 2 weeks, then 30 mins, then 40, then 50, then an hour... all these in two weeks intervals... when you are joggingan hour do it at a pace where you can keep a conversation, it's the best to burn fat and to be healthy, now, if you want to get more competitive, the training would continue different... but for now i think this is enough. NOW... if you are overweight.. DON'T run!!! do cycle or elliptical. It's never late! do it!

I am 42 and jog several times per week. I can tell you that recovery is slower but that gains can be made. You must commit at least 3 days per week and start slowly and progress more slowly. Get a heart rate monitor and train within your range. Start jogging until you hit 80% of max and then slow down even to a walk if necessary. Go 20 minutes. In 6 weeks this 20 minutes will be very easy and then you can increase easily. The key is heart-rate training, it really makes a difference.
