It is regional and sometimes cultural...Spend two weeks in the Bahamas or England, or Ireland for instance, you will sound like a native to the country! People tend to sound like the people they are around most. African Americans have an accent that had been part of the dialect spoken among African tribes.

You learn to speak from those around you & most communities are still full of local people whose accents have come from mixtures of languages from different countries over a millenia.

it is the way they were taught, we learn by mimic, thus accents follow the teaching of the uninitiated

LANGUAGE IS THE MAIN REASON. YOUR ACCENT WILL BE BASED OFF YOUR PRIMARY LANGUAGE'S PHONICS, EVEN WHEN YOU SPEAK ANOTHER LANGUAGE.
