When i tried to download the UK version it said the time was between 8 & 34hrs. Is this normal?

dude i will take that long on aol! but with a faster connection you could have it in 40min-3 hrs!!!

I did the download and kept getting varying times from the downloader, from 2 hours to 40 hours... don't even pay attention to that thing. It took me 6 hours in all. Just start downloading and leave it alone for a while.

Depending on the server load. I don't know about there, but in US the stores now have a 14 day trial disk for $1.99. The game is huge, it's about 6 gigs with all the patches. I suggest letting it run overnight.

Just hit up your local stores, some of them may have free trials you can take home.
Download speeds vary on your connection and distance from server your getting it from.
