That is the origin of the flag....
The rainbow is used because honestly we are multicultural by nature. There are Homosexuals found from every race, every ethnic background around the world.

I think the rainbow signifies the diversity in the community. I'm a straight woman but will say this. Some of the most intelligent, loving and caring people I know are in the GLBT community and many of them are my good friends.
