I think the avatars, being cartoons, are inherently cute.

As for them contributing to prejudice, I think the question itself speaks alot more about the person.

I mostly don't view the avatars... I reduce my browser and pan over to just view the questions so I don't get busted at work! Good question. Nice sombrero.

The Avatar cuteness team evaluates the fluffy and sweetness factors of our avatars and feeds the results into the attractometes resulting in introduction points to be used in answering questions.

I too just scan for interesting questions.

The only time I generally use the avatars is when I want to link to that person's other Q&As.

Though I did spend some time getting mine to look (within permitted parameters) like me. Why did I bother? No idea!

I don't have an avatar, I look at the question. A fit mind excites me more than a fit body.

The standard avatars are so damn cute, (pass the sick bag), I use my own self designed one.
It shows a bearded British old fart having a pint.
It suits me.
I don't suppose anyone takes any notice of it, anyway.

No. I am more inclined to answer a question if it catches my attention. Avatars have nothing to do with it.

Naw. The only time I notice an avatar is when it's exceptionally dumb. The question, more often than not, is equally dumb.

I was going to answer this, but your avatar just wasn't doing it for me.
