I was induced twice and loved it, no sitting at home waiting for the contractions to get closer together or intensify, no water breaking on my clean carpets(haha)..

I went in early in the morning and was hooked up to a pitosin drip via I.V. and they periodically checked on me and made sure the baby was tolerating the contractions and turned it up every now and then.

Just one more thing....ask for the epidural ......lol

Two of my children were induced (with no complications). For my firstborn, I was a week over my due date. My doctor hooked me up to Pitocin around 8 in the morning and I had the baby a little before 2 that afternoon. I did not have an epidural and the Pitocin did cause my labor pains to pretty much run back to back so I had no break in between. That was awful. When my next son was induced I decided right away I wanted the epidural. I was induced a week early due to the size of the baby. (All my kids were big!) My doctor started me on the Pitocin around 8am and I received the epidural soon after. I never felt a single contraction and it was wonderful! I have heard that the induction drugs can slow down labor so some doctors won't allow an epidural until they are sure labor is underway. Anyway, I guess I responded well to it. My son was born 2 1/2 hours later.

So I would reccomend the induction but definately do the epidural, it is worth every penny. The only negative thing about having an epidural is that you will be pretty much tied down to the bed. They will not let you up to walk around because they will want to monitor the baby's heartrate as well as your blood pressure. Good Luck!

yes i was induced with my first child. i arrived at the hospital at 7 in the morning but they didn't even start giving me pitocin until 1 in the afternoon. that was really annoying. my water didn't brake until around 5 that night and then from that point on the contractions started coming and i waited until i was 7 cm, which wasn't until around 10:00 that night, to get an epidural. the contraction were so bad when i got the epi that i didn't even feel the needle or anything else that they said i might feel while doing the procedure. anyways i didn't actually start pushing until a little before 3 that next morning and then my baby was born at 3:39 am. it felt like forever but it's different with every women. some have quick labor and delivery when being induced and some don't. i didn't have a bad eperience with it. the only thing i recommend is get an epidural it works wonders. don't get demerol though. it didn't work for me at all. it just made the room spin. well good luck and congrats!!!!

Yes. I was induced. I went in on Saturday. I went through 3 different drugs and by Monday morning was having minimal contractions, I was only 50% effaced and 3 centimeters dialated. In addition, the baby was still sitting high. The doctor said it could be another 3 days before anything happened. I had already been in there for 48 hours, I was tired, I was hooked up to annoying machines and had to have oxygen everytime I turned around. I elected to have a c-section. It turned out for the best because the baby had the cord wrapped around his neck and he was a big boy. Had I known that, I would have had the c-section to begin with and skipped all that inducement period. However, another woman went in the day after I did and she was induced. All they used on her was pitocin and it worked fine for her.

Would I recommend it? NO. Unless there is some reason for you to be induced I say be patient and do it naturally. If you DO intend to carry on with the inducement keep it in the back of your mind that it does not always work and that a c-section may be necessary. Don't be alarmed or disappointed if it goes that way.

I do wish you the best of luck with your labor and I hope it turns out exactly as you hope!

I was. There are different ways to do it. So you may not be like me. I was induced with an IV drip called pitossin (spelling?) It was about 12 hours later I delivered. It wasnt that bad of an experience, it did make me itch a little. This way can also make you bleed more-though I dont really know if it did for me or not. My mom said yes, everyone else said no. And yes it brings on the contractions, but I cant say that was any worse then a normal labor. Good luck to you.

Wonderful (if you can call labor that)! I went in at 8am and they hooked me up to an IV w/ Pitocin and then broke my water. I had an epidural at 4 cm dialation, but I could still feel the contractions b/c they were hard and fast. I pushed for 30 minutes and my daughter was born, no complications! I had her at 12:30pm. Total labor and pushing time (4 1/2 hours)
I'm 22 weeks pregnant now, and hope to be induced again!!
Good luck, and your labor should be faster than normal.

I was induced with both of my girls and it was OK. It was intense and lots of pressure, but that's any labor. I was in labor with my 1st for 6 hours and my 2nd for 7 1/2 hours. It got really uncomfortable when they broke my water. I had them all natural and so my pain was so bad that I didn't wanna move from my bed, I just grasped hold of the arm and screamed. But afterwords, it was the best thing I had ever done. I was proud of myself and will probably be induced with this one because I get high blood pressure towards the end. I had to be monitored and my BP checked every so often. Make sure you ask questions and tell them your wishes and see what they can do. Good luck and congrats.

They used potissin?? to induce me. sorry I forgot that detail

I was induced with my first and partly induced with my second...With my first they induced me with potassium (it really really hurt) being put in there and the contractions that happened so quickly after..I only was able to get half an epidural during that time and felt almost everything (very painful)..I was in labor for 13 hours including the pushing and it took me 1 hour to push..they say labor the first time lasts a lot longer than the second and third etc.

With my second I was dialated at 3 centimeters but labor didnt progress on its own so i had a scheduled induction..they first had to wrap something around my cervix to thin it out (that hurt) and then they would progress in the potassium to induce me,they said most women dont go into full labor with just the thing she slipped around my cervix, but i did...it ended up thinning me out completely and started dialating very fast,i got my epidural at around 5 centimeters and my water broke and ended up delivering my baby only 1 hour later...I loved that thing they gave me,i dont remember what its called though...I pushed and baby came out 10 minutes later...Being induced is not that bad, just if u are bad with pain i highley suggest getting an epidural..they are wonderful!!! i didnt feel a thing...Good luck!!

I haven't personally been induced, but my mother was with my youngest brother.... I was twelve at the time and it was about twelve years ago...... So, things have probably changed since then. But I know my mom was induced around 8am and didn't give birth to my brother until 11pm that night. The only complaint my mother had about being induced was how long it took..... with my sister and I we were practically born on the way to the hospital, so, my brother was quite a different experience.

Good Luck w/ your pregnancy and labor :)

Find out how they will induce you. I had a misaprostil induction and I HATED it. The cons for me was that I was at the hospital the whole time, I never had more than 1 minute "time off" between contractions for the whole labor, I didn't have a private room until I was passed 5 cm.

My water broke with my first and I wasn't having contractions so they had to give me pitosin and it made the contractions harder and more painful than if you are doing it naturally.

With my second they induced at 38 1/2 weeks and I asked for an epidural immediately and I had a painfree delivery in 6 hours.

I would recommend an epidural if you are being induced.
