THE MAIN ELEMENT THAT ATTRACTS MOSQUITOS TO YOU IS YOUR CARBON DIOXIDE EMMISIONS.
Other lesser contributing factors can be body heat, moisture, and scent. The use of sonic or 'mosquito heartbeat' sounds are not scientifically proven to trap mosquitos. Only mosquito traps like the mosquito magnet that use carbon dioxide as the primary attractant have been scientifically and independantly proven to be effective against mosquitos and other biting insects. Traps that rely on other attractants such as sound, light and heat are ineffective compared to those that rely entirely on carbon dioxide.

Carbon Dioxide and heat. I have heard that they are attracted more to you if you eat bananas, but I don't know that for sure. I keep a clove of garlic in my mouth when I'm in mosquito infested areas. That seems to work for keeping them away from my face. Skin So Soft (AVON) bath oil works really well for repelling them. They are attracted to fresh blood too. If you have open sores or cuts, cover them up.
