You don't mention your topic, but encyclopedias often provide good basic information about subjects--maybe even use wikipedia, though one has to be cautious about using that source.

2. Explain your rationale for picking this topic

3. Explain how you will do the research and how it will be presented

4. What you hope to learn/achieve by completing the project
a synopsis is usually for an instructor to guage if your project has enough subject matter or if it is going to be to broad in scope foryou to finish in the time alloted...many times they are used to guide you in your research...don't take ot too hard if your prof. is hard on you the first time you do it...good luck!
