You are absolutely right. Very good question . I am so very excited to answer this question. For instance I tell people I payed 300.00 for a tat and they look at me like I am crazy. Then I tell them I traveled to Seattle to get a Tat done by Benajmin Moss who is excellent in Detail and won so many exhibits it ridiculous. Then I get "why travel so far a tattoo? I thought you are suppose to pay for the significancefor a tattoo not some cheap graffiti spray looking airbrush tat. also my tats have so much detail. I just never understood the ignorance of people.

Everyone wants to feel they got a deal. Some people can be very arrogant in their approach to feel satisfied. Especially when it has to do with a decision that will last a lifetime. Could be an insecure decision to jump into a tat. I would tell them to either come back when you make up your mind or give a price for the size or time it takes to do the job and if they are co-operative they'll get 10% off. If they are really satisfied they'll spread the news for you and at the worst you'll get more people with the same attitude.

Wanting to get it cheap and bragging about getting it cheap are two different things. This applies to many things that people consider valuable. Some people want to feel like they got a bargain or a steal even. Bragging is usually thought of as a poor reflection on character, but I think most people do it thinking they got lucky and are looking for approval or commendation. If they do it to make you feel bad, they are usually lacking self-confidence and trying in an ignorant fashion to make themselves feel better, snubbing others in the process.

Becasue people try to get everyting as cheap as possible. I'd never get a tattoo, but if I did, I'd be a heck of a lot more concerned with the quality of the artistry and cleanliness than how cheap it was! You're going to have some mark on you for the rest of your life, and you are trying to take the cheap route?

You get what you pay for.

Anything done to your body should be of the best quality, tattoos are permanent so you don't want to hear a "Ups..I did it again!!" while getting your tat.

Tattoos are not just ink; they take talent, time, a firm hand, and good sanitary conditions . I wouldn't let Mike Tyson tattoo me, something he designed using crayolas and a coloring book, for $5 bucks.

You want a cheap tattoo? you'll end up with somethin like "I lub my moter", plus an infecction.

Not in my country England. It is far more important to have a good design by a professional tatooist.

It's probably immature young people who brag about cheap tattoos.

Because some tatto artist charge you a high amount for the tat,so when they done,it look like $#it .So now your mad about a $1000.00 tatto that was suppose to be a portrait of a beautiful naked women with wings, but instead looks like Rosie O'Donald with a thong on,IMAGINE THAT!!!! Peace!!

I'd say its because people wanting tattoos see them as a little bit of ink...not as someones time and talent. After all, aren't tattoos wearable pieces of artwork? Artwork isn't what you buy for 3.97 at WalMart...LOL...but maybe it is to those who want a cheap tattoo.....

I saw a guy once with a Harley Davidson tattoo on his arm spelled Harley Davison. I wonder how much he paid for it. I pretended like I didn't notice it.
