Just looking to see if someone has a link, or if someone can tell me the cost vs. benefits for me with these two systems. My favorite game is Madden Football... and really any sports games. I use wireless internet to access online as well right now with my PS2, and I will continue to use wireless with the Next Gen system. Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated. Plus, 10 points for what I think is the best post!

Thanks!

Steve

The 60 GB Playstation 3 is $599
X360 is $399 plus $199 for the HDDVD player.
so if you're going to get the DVD player the price difference is only $1. and the X360 only has a 20 GB hard drive.

If you already have a PS2 you can play your games on the PS3
but I'm sure the graphics on the new games will be so much better that you will not play them much. But every now and then going back to the old games can be fun.

To me it comes down to Blue Ray vs HD DVD and the storage capacity on Blue Ray is twice the size of HD.

I don't have either one yet, but I'm waiting to get an HD tv before I spend the money on a Next Generation system. Once I get the HD tv then I will be buying a PS3.

To the person that stated "$599 for base PS3, and $780 if you want the PS3 HD bundle"
That is misleading. The $599 price is for the 60GB system, The $780 price is for a bundle that includes 2 games and extra controller and a HDMI cable. so you can't compare that price to the X360 base systems with no extras

I own a PS1, PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360 and most of the old Nintendo systems. I'm an avid Madden player too (as well as most of the other EA titles). So I have the bias of owning a 360 and not owning a PS3, let me state that right up front.

That being said, cost of PS3 is obviously higher than 360, and will be for a considerable amount of time - $399 for higher level 360 vs. $599 for base PS3, and $780 if you want the PS3 HD bundle (all prices from Best Buy's website - so apples to apples).

Is the PS3 stunning? Yes. But ultimately, once you get to true HD output (assuming you have a large HD capable monitor, we have a 50" plasma), are you really going to notice an enormous difference in graphics quality between PS3 and 360? IMHO, not enough to justify the price difference.

And at the end of the day, true gamers don't play for graphics - we play for game play. PS3 has advantage of more titles (with backwards compatibility), but 360 has been out long enough to have a wealth of good games. You know that EA and the big games developers will continue to support both platforms, so I don't think within this genre you're going to have any title differences.

It may really come down to two things: 1) how much does it mean to you to be a bleeding edge adopter of the latest technology (for some, owning a PS3 simply to have the latest console is really important), and 2) how much do you plan to invest in Blu-Ray movies (PS3 has obvious advantage here).

Hope this helps some. Best to you.

Xbox 360:

For the full console will be 400 dollars.

You get a controller, all the component cables, and a 3 month subscription to Xbox Live.

Madden will cost around 50-60$ for the 360.

The Xbox 360 has a lot better online support. The graphics are amazing, great gameplay, and has a much better selection of games than that of the PS3.

Playstation 3:

The full console is 600$ with a controller, component cables, etc..

Madden again will be 50-60$ depending if you buy it new or used.

Now, with the PS3, you will get a Blue Ray drive, which supposedly is to be the new dvd in the future. I highly doubt it. The game choices are slim. Only decent game is Resistance Fall of Man. The online gaming is so-so. You won't use more than 50% of the console. And, the cost is not worth it. I would have to agree that it is a much more powerful system, and the graphics are better. But only by a small bit.

All in all, if you want a great gaming system that is affordable, and with a great selection of games, go with the Xbox 360.

I think the 360 is the way to go. I've played both versions of Madden and there is no way to justify spending an extra 200 bucks for the ps3 to play Madden. It looks just as good, if not better on the 360. The real deal breaker for me is rumble in the controllers. I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not, but the ps3 controllers lack this feature. I don't know about you, but I don't feel as immersed in a game when I don't get any sort of feedback from them. Especially in a football game where you get hit all day long. Anyway, I think you'll be very happy with a 360. There's already a bunch of great games available and more on the way. There are some other really cool features on the 360 as well. You can stream music, video, and pictures directly from your computer to your 360. You can download HD movies and TV shows. And later this year, they will offer IPTV. You'll be able to use your 360 as a DVR! Freaking sweet huh?! I almost forgot probably the best thing about the 360. Xbox LIVE. Even thought it costs 50 bucks a year(not a lot of money) it is worth it! Universal friend's list, being able to message anyone from any game, being able to invite people to a game from any game. The ps3's online network is lacking in many aspects. Sure it's free, but you get what you pay for.

I own a PS1, PS2, PS3, xbox, xbox360, gamecube, gameboy advance, and DS Lite.

I also have a 57" 1080p HDTV.

I think the games and playability for both xbox360 and ps3 are good. Obviously more 360 games are currently available, but the market will catch up on that - the 360 has been out way longer.

Internet on the PS3 is awesome. Xbox live has subscription fees. PS online is free, as long as you have internet connection and a router. PS3 also comes with a wireless modem and web browser capabilities. So you can surf the web, check your email, download pics music and games, and game online all in one box.

I personally think the Blue Ray is phenomenal. As I said before, I have a 1080p HDTV, and believe me, the diference IS noticeable. Movies are much crisper and details that go unnoticed on dvd are much more visible in Blue Ray.

If you have a 1080p tv (or plan on getting one) the PS3 is the choice. Blue Ray is currently the only source that supports full 1080p resolution. A standard Blue Ray player is $1000. The PS3 is obviously a great deal.

However, if you don't have much money, and don't have a next gen HDTV, the xbox360 is cheaper and plays just as nice. Just don't forget that xbox live (online) is not free.

I do play both systems. I do like them both. But I have to give PS3 a slight advantage since its graphics are better, it comes with a Blue Ray player, wireless modem, and free online gaming.

PS3 is soo much better!! It has free online, and a much more mature online community. You also het PS hone which you get to create a avatar and play in a huge virtual world. It has many different locations you go to with mini games. Fun mini games. It has a blue ray player so you can watch blue ray discs. With that said Sony can produce bigger games with better graphics then Xbox. PS3 has better exclusive games (resistance, killzone, uncharted, Little big planet, Gran Turismo etc) I had 4 xbox's and 3 of them are broke. I had two regular xbox's and 1 elite and they all broke, I now have the slim and its alright I've had 2 PS3's since 2007 and only 1 broke. I had the 80gb and it broke, now I have the super slim. The new Super Slim PS3 is a lot smaller then the Xbox slim and it has a door on top the PS3 in case something goes wrong with your PS3 you can get the game out. And its 250gb! You can get 500gb also! You van also much more colored controllers. PS3 is also Bluetooth friendly. You can use Bluetooth on Xbox. Ps3 is much better. And there is more facts but I don't feel like typing more. PS3 > Xbox 360

the xbox 360 is a $400 system and it has very few good games. out of those good games most of them are running at a resolution of 720p, and nothing else. so if you do not have a hi-def tv then you will be be able to read the text or be able to tell what the icons are. the xbox 360 does not have a hd-dvd player that comes with it, so you would have to buy that seperatly for $200. you will also have to pay to use xbox live.

the ps3 is $500- $600, which is expensive, but considering that blu-ray players are going for at least $700, it is a good deal. also, sony is LOSING $150-$200 per system! there are not very many good games out for it yet, but they are comming out. the ps3 runs on 1080i, 720p, or 480i, so you will always be able to see what you are reading or what the icons mean. the ps3 has a blu-ray player built into it, so you are getting not just a game system, you are also getting a hi-def player too. the sony online store it a very nice feature, you are able to download, games, demos, trailers, and add on's to current games. the ps3 has a wi-fi connection, it can hold pictures, and display then in a very unique way, it can hold music and it is completely backwards compatable. sony has a free online service which is flawless. i have p;layed with 40 other people at once and never saw the screen slow down once!

i hope that this has helped

Actually after you buy the HD upgrades for the 360 and subscribe to the online service ( I think Ps3's is free online), you are at about the same cost, around 600$. Ive been a sony fan since PS one, the PS 2 is a flat out classic, awesome system, but the 360 really looks like it could be the best system right now, alot of games that were exclusive on the Playstations (metal gear solid, and some others are now going to be ported to the 360 too. Damn Bill Gates, does he need more money? I would probably buy the 360 and upgrade it to HD, for around the 600$ you would spend for the PS 3.

well an xbox 360 is about $300-$499 but on the other hand the ps3 is about $599-$799!!!!!
i would strongly suggest the 360 because it has over 512 games you can buy and it is hd it has live tv built in and the ps3 has a little over 41 games to pick from that range from $49-$73 and the 360 games are only a bout $20-$35 or you could just get a cheap ps2 withe very! cheap games it is all about your budget and personality's

Madden 07 on the xbox 360 is awesome! I do not have one yet, but am planning on getting one, I played my mates and now I detest the shoddy graphics on my ps2 now :-(

360 game developers have a head start on the ps3.

Blue-ray compatability on the ps3?

So much cheaper.

And if you love the gta's they are supposedly releasing no.4 at the same time on both sytems.
