I would have to say for the oil.
It had nothing to do with 9/11 or terrorists because of the fact that Saddam HATED OBL and didn't want to have anything to do with him.
The only thing that has happened is that there is unrest in the middle east which is a reason why oil goes up...with this happening it has given the oil companies a way to create a monopoly on oil prices and can target consumers into paying a lot more for gas, than before. Not only that, but with the no-bid contracts, it is a wonder why anyone can't see the real reason behind the wars that Bush has drawn our men and women into. Iran is just more smoke and screens.
Bush is truly the #1 terrorist out there!

Several Reasons* 1.Every Attempt America has made to increase its influence in the middle east using "Puppet Leaders" has failed and backfired. Therefore the U.S. opted to increase its interest itself utilizing brute force(invasion of Iraq).
Ex.During Carters administration the shah of Iran was controlled by the U.S.He was overthrown in the Iranian revolution and the two nations have been silent enemies ever since. Ex.U.S gave weapons to Saddam`s Iraq in the
Iran-Iraq.The war ended in stallmate causing Iraq to go into a defecit which is way they invaded Kuwait causing Desert Storm.
Ex.We gave weapons to Osama and Taliban in the Afgan/Soviet war. They repaid us by taking down the towers.
2.Taking out Saddam and setting up shop in Iraq increases our strategical leverage against our long time silent enemy Iraq`s neighbor Iran.
3.The neo-conservative belief spread that by creating a democratic Iraq that effect would Domino throughout the region.
4.It would even the US&Iraseli vs Iran Iraq Syria Lebanon/Palestein playing field. This would turn an enemy (Iraq) into an ally thus placing support for Israel in close proximity.
*Oil was just an added bonus it was not a reason. The invasion of Iraq was nothing more than a strategical move by the Us on the chess board of the World trying to beat the Middle East. However like ever attempt before it has backfired. We should leave the Middle East alone before we inadvertenly cause WW3.

I used to believe it was the original intention of looking for WMD but after reading the headlines today about more ships being deployed to the gulf to warn Iran, I think that is probably why we are sending in more troops to Iraq. To threaten Iran and any middle eastern country. I just don't know anymore what exactly is going on. Everyone from the White House right on down to me have an explanation. What a mess the world is.

ummm. . .no. 9/11 was not caused by the iraqis.
9/11 was an act of terrorism caused by al queida - people in AFGHANISTAN.
we went to iraq for supposed weapons of mass destruction and to overthrow the dictator saddam hussein.

To establish a permanent presence in the middle east in order to control one of the most valuable resources on earth.
Bush could have spent 500 billion developing alternate energy and changing this country over to these forms of alternate energy. He would have been the greatest president in the history of this country. But instead he decided to listen to the Neocons and try to set up a empire in the middle east.
We are there for the oil and control. You can ramble about the war on terror until hell freezes over. But its about the oil. There are fewer and fewer lemmings everyday who believe the propaganda machine.

it appears to me we are kept in the dark A LOT, So i wouldn't be surprised if the main reason were hidden from us, i agree with weapons and oil are reasons too however like i said i also believe we spend most of the time in the dark about a lot of things, it worries me all the innocents killed, children mothers fathers who are "normal citizens"
