Have you ever tried a drug or specific drink that you saw someone do on television or in films?

i.e. Have any of you females answering this question ever tried a "Cosmo" after seeing the women of "Sex in the City" drinking them?

Has anyone seen John Travolta doing Heroin in "Pulp Fiction" and thought it looked cool (when he is driving in the convertible after and seems all relaxed and mellow)? Have any of you thought that you might be more prone to try heroin because of seeing this scene in Pulp Fiction?

Do any girls/women think that it is funny when the women of "Absolutely Fabulous" drink and pop pills? Does the humor you see in this make you think that drinking and taking pills might not be as dangerous as people have always told you it is? How about "Karen" on "Will and Grace"?

This is a poll that I am taking for a project I am working on. I appreciate any answers you can give. I will NOT use your names, screen names or ANY personal identifying information in this venture.

Peer presure has a lot more influence on if'n someone is going to get into drug use more than what is seen in the media.

I might try a drink that I see for the first time on TV, i.e. your cosmo question. But I wouldn't start drinking them just because I saw them on a TV show. The food network would have more influence over my drink choices then Sex in the City would.

I don't think that it has had any influence on me, but that may well be because I watch a variety of films - you'd never sit down and watch Requiem for a Dream and then decide smack looks appealing, because one guy loses an arm after an abcess develops horribly, another girl gets pimped off into a lifetime of forced prostitution.

It must be said though, if I'm sitting at home watching a film and someone lights a joint, I do itch to roll one myself, but then I ALREADY had that habit prior to pressing "play".

I think (some) movies and TV downplay drugs way too much but the more dangerous illusion that they give is how easy they make it seem to "kick the habit". They make it seem like if you get hooked on drugs you can simply stop if you want to bad enough and that is just not the case.

When I was a puppy, I always watched MASH. I now love Martini's but I don't think that has anything to do with it.

But to go into your question, John Wayne practically turned a whole generation into smokers. With a little help from world war two of course.
