I have a 87 Ford F250 with a 6.9 International motor. It has quit running. It will run when I fill the filter up with diesel fuel and then will run till the filter gets low. I replaced the fuel pump and it still only runs long enough to empty the fuel filter.

you have a leak in fuel lines-somewhere between fuel tank and fuel filter housing or it is the pickup tube inside of tank broke off or plugged up....this is NOT a guess

You have a fuel line that is blocked or a pickup tube in the tank that is blocked. Remove the line from the tank and the fuel pump and shoot compressed air through it. If it is clear remove the tank and have it cleaned at your radiator shop. Remember to bleed all the air out of the lines when you re install.

Even if you replaced the fuel pump, is the fuel pump actually running? Turn on the ignition and run a circuit test to see if the fuel pump is getting juice. If not, check switch, fuse, wiring.
