I have one Saturday night in Tokyo, from 6pm to midday on the Sunday. I'm keen to stay up and out for the whole time and see the best and authentic Tokyo. Where should I go and what should I do?

Try the Tokyo tower for a night sight of the city. The subway is great for getting around. Easy, cheap and fun. Shibuya for skyscrapers and tonnes of unique shops/restaurants. Akihabara is good for cheap electronics. Sony Tower is good for seeing the next big thing. Senso Ji is pretty cool if you are into temples and so is the Imperial Palace. Roppongi is good for a lively night out. Get a Lonely Planet Guide with subway maps - cheap from Amazon. Invaluable.

If you`re a fan of the movie "Lost In Translation" with Bill Murry and the lovely Scarlett Johansson I recommend you see this website, http://www.japan-guide.com/news/0003.html . The site gives names of locations around Tokyo that were used in the movie along with opening times, directions and any entrance fees that maybe charged.

On the other hand, if you`re just looking for an all round guide of Tokyo, "where to go and what to do" etc, then I recommend these following websites http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokyo , http://www.tourism.metro.tokyo.jp/english/ , http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2164.html and for getting around, http://www.japanrail.com/ and http://www.jreast.co.jp/e/info/map_a4ol.pdf

Hope the websites will be of help to you. Good luck and have a good time.

well, I'm an otaku .. So I'd recommend going to Akihabara to buy some stuff and Harajuku to see some street cosplay.

But dunno, I haven't really been to Japan, thats only from what I heard about japanese manga & anime culture. .
