I think net send will work!
net send <"your message">
in case of error try removing the space between net & send as netsend, but I think the space is needed.

Yes net send would work. But you should know the name of the computer present in your lan to send a message to that computer.
For eg. consider that you have to send a message to a computer named vasu, then select Start -> Run.
There type as below
net send vasu "Test Msg"
If you want to know the names of computers present in your lan, then Double click "My network places" icon. There all the computer names present in your lan will be available.
