Other than the 1.3 billion part, you could replace "China" with "Japan" and "Bush" with "Reagan" and this would sound like what the conspiracy theorists were saying in the 1980s.
There is no denying they were 100% wrong on that one.
It's a symbiotic relationship. And you need to remember, Gill Scott-Heron was a fine musician but a lousy economist - the consumer rules the market. We don't NEED to buy the next generation of electronic items and we don't NEED cheap getchkeys from Target. If the US economy truly suffers we'll stop buying these things. China needs to keep exporting and needs to keep growing its exports - and when that slows down, the same thing will happen there that happened in Japan.
Also you gotta love the "they hold a big chunk of our debt" crowd...... Economic analysis from folks who don't know what a put is.....

No, of those 1.3 billion most of them can hardly read Chinese, plus even if they could and could live western life styles the worlds energy would be depleted within just a few years, if even that long. Not to mention the fact that Chinese would prefer to stay with other Chinese, they are not the type of people that would choose to leave their home's, even if they do most would stay in their Chinese neighborhood after migration.
I would say if anything happens, they will become a much larger work force, and more things will be outsourced to them for cheap labor. Maybe your great, great, great, great, grand kids but even then, the chances are still slim.

i don't forsee a military invasion but, a cutural invasion is more likely. Not anywhere near thier current state because our quality of life is still much better but if they overtake us in living standards and education and become a dominant force in the world your grandchildren may choose to learn chinese and dream of traveling to the land of milk and honey that china would hope to become.
Thier large economy is largely exports to the US, which actually isn't so great for china and the developing countries. They are spending thier time and thier finite reasources to make things for us. Many of the companies that own the factories are American or international, the profits from them will not neccessarily stay in china or go towards chinese needs. But it does pass through which makes china seem like it has a large GDP, GDP is considered a measure of a countries wealth but has little real life correlation. Most of what china/ or chinese keeps is the money paid to them in labor which is significantly less. Think of the british empire, tea fields in india did little to help the indian people.

With the world's companies moving their factories to China to take advantage of slave labor level wages, it could be only a matter of time before China becomes the economic powerhouse of the world. With economic power comes the finances to improve military capability. China is already accelerating in missile technology and space technology.
Some would say China is modernizing and moving forward reform. I would say China is playing classic communism: I believe Lenin(Stalin?) once said that capitalism would build the communist world. China pays lip-service to civil rights and accepts international investments in their country with open arms. As long as American capital is useful, China will be our "friend." It is not only bush that is advancing china's cause, but the democratic party as well. Both parties are more or less pandering to the interest$ of China, even Clinton, with questions about his fund raising.
If America does not wake up, in the next few decades, China could end up with military supremacy. I think China would prefer a more subtle economic domination, backed up by subtle reminders of their military power, that is as long as America remains a milkable cash cow.

Wow. Blaming Bush for that too? Nevermind Clinton was so far up the Chinese's butt he gave up so many military secrets that there military in a lot of ways is equal to ours. Particularly ICBM's. Remember there cutsie missile test last week?
You want to stop the Chinese? Stop supporting companies like Walmart and start buying American, stop supporting the dems, and wake up!

No offense yet whomever is coaching you economics isn't being ordinary. once you assert u.s. owes China huge sums this is sort of of an over-simplification. China purchases our Treasury Bonds. extremely, it shows our potential that different international locations seek for to speculate there income in u.s.. The greater funds China invests in u.s., the greater it is of their activity that our forex stay helpful so as that they do no longer loose their investment. China will proceed to enhance and we had greater powerful end our coverage of retarding corporation investment in u.s. by intense company taxes if we opt to compete. there is little doubt maximum companies could extremely do corporation in u.s. yet we save making it greater durable to do. China has far greater lax environmental regulations besides. That makes it much greater difficult for us to compete. you have those days been to China. in case you have been to China formerly, you're able to see the version commerce has made. What could stand out to you is a few thing that purely Capitalism creates and is now recent in China. An rising center type. it is what would be the terrific asset and the terrific undertaking to the chinese language government. center type every person isn't as undemanding to administration as peasants. they have funds, property, and maximum of all entertainment time. Freed of the all eating job of purely scratching out a living from the airborne dirt and dirt, the newly rising center type is making demands. they want greater say. they opt to return and forth. they do no longer take to censorship. they are much less probably to settle for stable decrees with out clarification. We observed this in the process the recent earthquakes. whilst the colleges and different public housing construction collapsed, the individuals demanded action against the community officers that have been to blame for public construction protection, they demanded solutions. And, they have been given them. this might properly be a significant substitute. confident, China will improve and prosper. because it does this is going to grow to be much less and much less like the previous China and extra and extra like u.s.. it particularly is a robust concern. *

Yeah, they are already trying to move to Russian territories in Siberia and far east...So, let hope Russia will get tired of that and will push back, showing them that not everything is allowed even for the biggest nation on Earth. Economy wise, they will bit everybody in 20 years or so...U.S. Included.

Yes. I think so too. At the rate their economy is growing and military spending which follows they WILL overtake the U.S. in 30 years. It will be the cold war all over again.
