I like the urinal idea! Also if you have to do a presentation there is a game online you can have the class play... if you have a projector setup a website for it is...www.arcadezip.com/games/The-Urinal-Game
You have to choose where to go in different situations!!!

Cultural topics are always good. I did a presentation once on the origin of Halloween, kept me busy for 20mn. You can also talk about other countries' celebrations: Mardi Gras, Independence Day, etc. Holidays are always fun to talk about! If you want something more serious, you can have philosophy questions, like the death penalty, or do you think there should be a separation between the federal state and the individual states in the United States. Have fun!

How outgoing are you. I am gonna suggest something a friend did a few years back that I thought was wonderful.
How to select a urinal in the restroom. Do some research briefly on this and you might find it quite interesting. He scored the best in the class but his report was well written and oral speach was well presented.

Try something philosophical, it will show them that everyone has opinions and they wouldn't have to write anything down. Tell them bit about different peoples theories and how often they contradict each other. Bring up their own dicussions and relate them to famous philosphists. it might bring some of the quieter ones out of their shells and give them confidence, its an interesting subject were you cant be wrong. Everyone has an opinion so, the majority would be interested at at least some of it!

Choose someone famous like Abraham Lincoln. Look up biographical information on him. Try to include some information on his life. For instance he had a poor life with only one year of formal schooling but use to listen to his father and his friends tell stories. Abe would go over and over the stories when he went to bed until he had them memorised and then he would tell them the next day. He became quite a storyteller and then a great orator. He was well-known for travelling long distances to borrow books and was self-taught. Then read the Gettysburg address or try to dress somewhat like him and tell his life story. "The Team of Rivals" is too long for you to read know but it is about Lincoln and where I learned about his storytelling. The main point is that he brought his talented, learned rivals together into his cabinet when he was President and got them to work together for everyone's benefit.
