Being honest gives you credentials and confidence. People trust you when your honest and they are willing to tell you things in confidence.
Plus you will not have any guilt for lying and you will be a better person.

The reason for being honest is because it's the proper way to be in a civilization; otherwise, whom would you trust if honesty was optional?
A lesser reason is if you're not honest, you'd better be expert at keeping track of all your prevarications.
Also: What about guilt and living with oneself comfortably? Personally, I could not live with all the self-loathing dishonesty would engender.

Because lies will always come back and haunt you and you may not even remember what you lyed about! If you don't lie you will never have to worry about what it is you said. However, if you need to tell a small fid to prevent others from hurting that is the only time I would condone it.

It pays off. If you lie, you are going to have not only deal with the consequences of it when you get caught. But people who lie also have to keep remembering at whay they lie about, its a hard job. I know that being honest also gives you a better consious, you can sleep better at night!

What is the reason for lying? Just be straight up it is what it is and lying is deceitful and manipulative.
