I used to say "Giz a backy", to get a lift on a buddies bike. I'd probably ask to cadge some backy for a whole different reason now!...

I was dyslectic as a child so mine came out cog a giz. I'm still trying to recover from the trauma.

Yes, what we meant by it was that we wanted some one to give us a lift in their car or on their bike. I think the expression came from a wheel cog, cogs make wheels go around.
