If the security light continues blinking for more than 5 seconds the security system is not getting the proper signal from the key, the key must be programmed to the car, usually at a dealership, but if you search camaro forums online you should be able to find how to do it yourself. if the key has been programmed, then you've most likely got a bad passkey module.
On the other hand, if the security light only blinks breifly when you insert the key ( ~5 sec. ) check starter relay behind instrument panel on the right.

This is a long shot, but check the ignition cut out switch which is connected to your gear shift. (It keeps you from starting the car in gear).
On a column shift it is sometimes located at the base near the break pedal. If you kick that sucker off, your car will behave exactly as you describe it.
Your security system may also use that same wire as a kill switch for the starter which might be why it is blinking. OR... it could be your alarm module has gone south and killed the starter connection.
good luck... let me know if I was even close.

Does your car have the 'key' for your security system? Its usually located under the dash. I know quite a few GM's have this and if it fell out, then that would cause your security light to continue to flash, but not allow your car to turn over. Let me know.

OK try replacing your altenator or spark plugs. Most of the time this is where your problem is. You may also need to buy a new battery.

Might also be the alarm itself. Some have a theft deterrant that will not allow the vehicle to start.
