Are'nt there people out there that are SO tired of hearing,"lets get a black president, or "hurray, two black coaches are going to the superbowl" Slavery ended long ago, should'nt we just drop the "poor black" mentality? In case no one has noticed... the white person is the one being discriminated against now.

I completely agree. I hate to say this but it's REVERSE RACISM (if there were such a phrase). If black people keep singing this old and tiresome song the country will never be able to move forward. If we keep having scholarships specifically for racial groups instead of by merit then racism will always be an issue. Why should a black kid get more money to go to college than a white kid who has the same advantages and disadvantages?

Why are we calling black people "African Americans" when almost none of them were born in Africa? Am I called a "Scottish-Irish American" because my family came from there? No. I'm white. Black people are black. Asian are asian. Latino/hispanic are latino/hispanic. Native American's could go either way... I haven't decided on that one. Suggestions? Either way... everyone born in America should be called.... [drumroll]

AMERICANS!!!!!

Let's all stop crying about race and move on. The sins of a few great, great, great grandfathers should not have any bearing on the educated populace of today. We all understand what happened. Let's move on.

Yes, definitely.

I'm especially tired of stupidity being masked by racism. For example, the mayor of New Orleans stating that people were dying there only because they were "black and poor." No, people were dying there because they ignorantly chose to stay in a soupbowl below sea level with a category 5 destructive storm coming at them. It didn't matter if they were white, black, purple, or Micheal Jackson himself stuck there - they were told, in advance, that a killer storm was coming and you were left to your own risk if you stayed, as emergency personnel could not rescue you. But yeah, instead it turned into "woe is me because I'm black." Wrong.

Also, I'm tired of the double standard. I'm all for equality, if it's truly equal. But how is it that there are such things as the BET channel on TV, and the ***** college fund? If there were a "Caucasian College Fund" or a "CET", the NAACP would be on that like flies on you know what, calling it racist. How is it not racist this way? I just don't get it.

Anyway, yeah, I'm with you there. Slavery was a long, long time ago. Yes, it was wrong in many many ways. But we didn't have a part of that, and there aren't any slaves still running around either. Why do some feel that society owes them something more than others get?

Edit: Yeah, go ahead and give me a thumbs down, but it's my opinion. If you're not part of the solution, then you're a part of the problem.

Sister you are so right slavery ended a long time ago, what we need to do is to support those with the talent whether you are black, or white. Use what you got!

do you not see that that is a problem??? yes, slavery ended long ago and we STILL have not had a black president. that is a problem. are you that close minded and ignorant to not see racism is still prevalent in todays world. i am a white man living in south carolina, so i know racism. its all around me, and i hate it. this is the 41st super bowl, and we have never had a black coach coach the big game. and of 119 D-1 college football, there are only a handful (meaning less than 8) black head coaches, while the majority of the players are black. do you honestly think everything is peachy? its a start, but its not perfect.

I agree with you on one point..."the white person is the one being discriminated against now." BUT I do wish all people could (and should) be treated equally, regardless of their color, creed or race (and sexual preference). We live in America, home of the 'free'...lets abolish discrimination...now! :)

Yes. It is only permitted to bash someone if they're white hetero christian males. Bash anyone else and you risk being called "intolerant" or worse.

as long as there is a majority then someone in the minority will scream discrimination.
