Does active noise reduction help in the prevention of hearing loss? I've seen several peoples opinions that it helped, but I want some proven facts.

Look at the specifications on the headphones. It will state how much of a noise reduction to expect. Anyway any noise reduction will be protective of your hearing. If you do get this product get a good one like from Bose, they are the best.

I do not have statistics, but if you are wearing over the ear headphones that noice cancel and you cannot hear any loud sounds then it stands to reason that it will save your ears.
The way loud sounds damage your hearing is by killing off little hairlike cells in your inner ear and if no loud sounds get in there, they cannot be damaged.
