I live in Caulfield south, which is close to be called inner city. I earn $88000 and i live a more than comfortable lifestyle.
My life is in no way extravagant, i enjoy eating out at least once a week, go out maybe on average twice a week.
It is a great city, you will love it.

G'day,

I agree with Tantrum. $80K will be minimal, but if you got more, then it's convenient.

Of course the type of house will change your budgeting as well. I am suggesting that you check the websites below for the price of properties in the suburbs that you would like to settle in.

Good luck and Welcome to Melbourne

It's a difficult question, but I think you would be looking at $80,000 plus to be at least comfortable. You could get by on less, but if I read between the lines you want a bit more than "getting by".
