It's a D&C, a dilation and curettage. It is to remove the dead tissue from the woman.

In this procedure the cervix is widened and tissue is gently removed from the lining of the uterus, in the case of a mole then a suction evacuator should be used followed by curettage to remove the lining and remaining tissue. This can be a simple 5-minute operation sometimes, but if a mole needs to be removed then the large amount of material combined with the need to remove as close to 100% of it as possible will require much more time.

An abortion. D&C is the procedure used for an abortion...although she did not actually have an abortion, bc the baby was already dead. They did this to get rid of anything that dd not come out on its own, as in the sac, and small baby...very very very small baby, it would not have looked like a baby at all.

I am sorry for your friend...she will need support right now. So help her all you can!!

he dilation and curettage procedure is called a D&C. The D stands for dilation, which means enlarging. Curettage (the C) means scraping. Together, this procedure involves expanding or enlarging the entrance of a woman’s uterus so that a thin, sharp instrument can scrape or suction away the lining of the uterus and take tissue samples.

Usually after a miscarriage or abortion a D&E is performed. The D&C is usually after a normal birth. There really is no difference in the procedure but the name is different.

A DNC is a comman thing when you have a miscarriage. They go in and clean your insides out to get rid of anything left behind so you won't get a infection.

I had that done when I retained a peice of the placenta after giving birth. It's basically where they scrape the uterus out to get rid of what's left from a failed pregnancy, or a retained placenta.
