Actually DO something about the problems that we are having HERE, in OUR country.
Do something to control illegal immigration, put our homeless in those jobs that the illegals take, make people WORK for their welfare unless they are disabled, and put our tax dollars to something useful instead of spreading it around to people who don't deserve it (people who can't support a family, but keep having kids is just an example).
Perhaps, just perhaps, they can quit trying to regulate how we can and can't discipline our children, and what we can and can't say for fear that we may "offend" someone who doesn't want to act like they are part of this country in the first place.
That would be a good start.

As President they would have to firstly heal the wounds from this present administation. She/He would have to bring us together by not showing us our differances but our simalaritys. She?He would have to bridge the ever widenning gap between the Economic Classes. He/She would have to bridge the Gap dug of our allies and Nations throughtout the World. We can not survive on this planet if we don't cooperate with each other Worldwide. At present we have a President that calls himself "thedecider". We need a Healer. Wounds are deep in our Country and this Administration has caused wounds Worldwide. No one would have faulted us for going after Bin Laden . Bush had to go into another direction and one of his reasons that he is to spread Democracy. No one asked him and you cannot bring Democracy to Nations that don't want it and to the Fundamental Radical Moslems Democracy is against their beliefs and culture.
We the people should be the ultimate "deciders". I believe we all want to part of a better world. We need a HEALER AND PEACEMAKER. Unfortunatly all Bush has done is open up wounds and no matter what we do tomorrow as to pull our troops out inevidebly we will have to face Iran and possibly Syria.
This has been exsabarated by our occupation of a Moslem Country.
We have had several Great Minds in the White House; non greater than Jefferson> He mostly responsible for drawing up the almost perfect rules of Goverment. The Constitution. The two Roosevelts were a cut above the rest as well as Wilson. But after my genaration has passed and the wounds of Vietnam are laid to rest LBJ will be recognized for the fact that he; a man of the South signed the Civil Rights Bill knowing as a Democrat that he was signing off on the Democratic Party in the South for Generations. He gave us Medicare and at least attempted A War on Poverty. Now we have Bush who has an undeclared war on the impoverished.

Put and end to terrorism. Bush has laid the groundwork, so hopefully there won't be any idiots come in and totally wreck it.
This wouldn't be an easy task, but then again, neither was leading the nation through a civil war and abolishing slavery, nurturing a new-born nation to greatness, or writing the Declaration of Independence.
Ronald Regean didn't have it easy either. During his presidency, there were people who absolutely hated his guts and thought that everything he was doing was wrong (kinda like people are doing with Bush...ironic?), and yet he was declared the Greatest American by the Discovery Channel. This was decided based on the vote of Americans nation-wide.

Declare independence from the USA and fight a revolutionary war in the new world. Or put an end to slavery.
Seriously though, those three are in a class of their own. All of the good milestones in history are already taken. Any current or future president would be hard pressed to do something extraordinary to compete with that, short of world peace or curing cancer.

A leader is only as good as they people he hires. Some of Bush's cabinet members should not have been appointed.
Maybe I am looking at this wrong, but, the checks and balance system of our government should prevent a president from screwing-up. Congress, or the Supreme Court, can overrule the president. So, who's fault is it, if the government is doing something we do not approve?

When you compare Presidents, try to remember the conditions that existed during their terms of office. Washington did not have the problems of managing the affairs of a country the size of the present USA.
Lincoln did not have the Islamic Problem that permeates the world today.
Jefferson did not have to be concerned with a world that is trying to radiate everyone else.
Each of these Presidents lived in a different world and they faced different problems.
Our current President has enough to worry about to fill three lifetimes, and he also has to face a lot of critics who know very little about running a country.
