we've tried GO BOOM,GO FISH,and OLD MAID but they are getting old fast,I need a game that I can teach him that does not require him to hold too many cards in his hand.THANX

War would be a good one for him...it lasts a while but he doesn't have to hold on to his cards.
Slap jack would be interesting and probably fun for a younger child
Crazy eights isn't too hard to learn either.

Try WAR, or if the kids can 'count to 12, you could get a set of UNO cards, or teach them to play 'Spite and Mailce' (sorry, there are cards that are MADE FOR this game that have a different name, but I can't remember it) ... the 'rules' are in most 'books of card games' ... or you could also try some 'board games' that are age appropriate, like Jr. Scrabble ...

Try Cribbage. There's only 4-6 cards in your hand, it's easy to learn, and helps with math. You can buy a set at Walmart and places like that.
