I think there are probably Muslims living throughout the US. Just because Utah is predominately Mormon, doesn't mean that other religions are not there. There's a big Microsoft plant in Utah and I'm sure there's some South Asian or Middle Eastern engineers or techs working there. The US has also resettled many refugees from muslim countries in small cities and towns in the South and Southwest so there may also be muslims among these groups.

Or there could be American converts to Islam who love the red rocks and skiing that Utah is known for.

Sure, there are!...

Even though the state-run Utah Travel Council says that Utah is at least 70% Mormon, there are at least some Muslim neighborhoods throughout the Greater Salt Lake Valley(Salt Lake, Davis and Utah Counties)...
