Honey It happens when the power button becomes old and cloggy.

When you press the button once.... (for start up)... the power button gets stuck it keeps itself pressed against the electrical contact.

So what happens is that after every four seconds the computer shuts down ....... its called the soft power off.......(if you press the power button for more than four seconds the computer shuts down)

To check if this is really the case.....

1. Switch off the UPS (power supply)
2. Switch it back on....and observe....
.....if the CPU starts on its own without you touching the power button...... it means that the power button is already stuck inside.....
3. Try giving the switch a few slaps to loosen it up......until it stops starting on its own.
4. If it works and if you are adventerous try opening the case and cleaning the switch..... a tricky job.... or call a service guy.

Don't see any other reason for it to start over and over again......

Another work around a sure shot digonostic...

1. open the cabinet

2. Locate the twin wire that comes from the motherboard to the power switch.

3. Remover the wire from the switch .... either at the motherboard end or the switch end whichever is easier....

4. Turn the UPS power supply on....

5. Short the wire for a second (touch the two ends of the wire together) or touch the two ends of the wire with a screw driver....

6. This should start the computer.... remove the short immediately and wait of the computer to boot....

If the computer boots fine then its time to either clean/change the swithch....

Hope it works...... and hope you could digest it......

Good Luck!!!!!
