I know what u mean, but trust me, if thats what you think emo is, you havent listened to much. Ive heard a lot of it, and I've never heard the stuff that you are talking about. EMO started in the early 90's and they never talked about suicide or hating life. By the way, from nine inch nails to Johnny Cash to almost any musician out there, they talk about "hating life" or bring up suicide. And if you saw it on MTV, or heard it on the radio, then it's not EMO.
