Hello
The doctor might strap the finger with another finger to prevent further damage and help to heal the sprain.

A sprain normally takes six to eight weeks to heal; severe sprains may take longer and may involve treatment to complete the recovery process. For a more specific response ask your doctor.

Why didn't you ask the doctor? And why do you have to go back? Why didn't they tape them up when you were there? Very weird. They will probably tape them together (buddy-tape) and then use an ace bandage to secure them.

You can ask both of these questions when you go back to the doctor.
