Most answerers seem to not understand the difference between being IN an accident and CAUSING one. Just because someone causes an accident does not necessarily mean they are involved in a collision.
One more thing to keep in mind, far more men drive and the tend to drive much farther and longer in any given situation than women so naturally, more men will be involved in accidents.
As a professional driver for over 18 years and well over a million professionaly driven miles, I can attest to the fact that most drivers, both men and women, are idiotic behind the wheel. My experience, which is in no way definitive, is that young women (16-25) are the rudest and most dangerous, followed closely by teenage boys.
Insurance rates define nothing. More women, by a large majority than men seek medical advice but the rates are almost always the same for men and women.
In my opinion, for what it's worth, is that women are less aware of their surroundings while driving and are more likely to be distracted by something else in the car, cell phones or as was stated, putting on makeup or just checking themselves out in the mirror.
Older people usually are just being careful; if someone passing them is involved in a crash, guess who caused it. (hint: it isn't the one driving slowly and carefully). It seems that in this, as is true for so many things, lots of people want to blame their own misgivings onto others.

My personal experience is that men cause more wrecks. In the 5 accidents that I've been in 4 out of 5 were men. The men received tickets and were all at fault. The woman that hit me couldn't help it because it was icy.

From my experience on the road, I have noticed that women tend to be horrible drivers. They tend to be doing everything but driving. They are on their phones, doing makeup and all sorts of stupid things.

However, there are a fair share of teenage boys who are dangers on the road. They are overconfident and think their riced out Hondas are fast and indestructible.

Old people are also dangers. A lot drive very slow and make it dangerous because people are trying to pass them.

So overall, I think a man can be just as bad as a women....however women seem to be less likely to understand how the car works and handles to be able to avoid situations. Plus they seem less capable of multitasking behind the wheel, which is not something anyone should be doing.
