To where?

Since the BMW is a German automobile I would think it would be cheaper to import it from Germany.

It will depend on the purchase price of the vehicle, but let's take 20k as an example:

BMW purchase - £20,000
Shipping fees - £1,500
Import duty, V.A.T. and brokerage fees - about £6,500 (approximately 30% of the vehicle's value, including shipping costs)
Single Vehicle Approval and licencing - £1,500
Loading on your insurance (because it's an import) 15%-20%.

So, a 20k Beemer will cost around £9,500 to get road legal in the U.K., plus a hefty whack on your insurance. It's probably not worth doing...

as far as i am aware import cost is around £1800 for shipping.....but you will have to pay tax on the cost of the vehicle when it arrives, i would imagine it would still cost less than buying a new one over here (please not it may have to have a SVA test, and you may need to add a fog light and a few other things)

twisted-a is correct, its also not worth it because the usa model will be a lot less powerfull than a uk model due to emmisions equipment on the us car.and insurance will cost more as it will be left hand drive.

Assuming you're in the UK, it wouldn't be financially worth your while.
