have you ever known a kid or teen that has really shot up over the summer and you said to yourself, wow he really got tall. i recently had this experience and i want to get other peoples stories. thanks.

Yeah I've got a 14 yo friend who is now 5 foot 11, up from about 5 foot 7. Big surprise, he plays basketball!

My god-daughter's brother is a total beanpole at 7. He had just barely turned 5 and was already getting kicked off the kiddie rides. In kindergarten he was already taller than many second graders. It puts a lot of pressure on him because he doesn't let on how smart he is until you get to know him. That's made all the worse because he's tall enough that people see him and think he's a couple years older. They expect him to act a certain way and he's just too young to meet those expectations.

Absolutely. A friend's 14 year old son got a new suit in the summer before school started and by the middle of Fall, the pants were over two inches too short!

I grew so much at that same age that I developed severe anemia because I wasn't producing enough red cells for the bulk of my body.

That's what they mean by "growing like a weed!"

omgoodness i know exactly what you are talkin about. my cousin and i are really close like me and him go everywere together when we can. he has ALWAYS been shorter than me. and then all of a sudden i saw him after like only a month or so and when we say hi we always hug and kiss on the check (we be hispanics we do that) and that time i noticed that i had to like stretch a lil more than usual. so that was weird and then we both went to mexico and so we hung out alot so i never noticed the difference in height between us. and we are only like 5 months apart (i'm older lol) so when we came back. everone commented on his height but i didn't notice so once again we stopped hangin for a while and when i saw him i was shocked! i come up to like his shoulder now and i'm around 5'6''-5'7''. and when he said hi with the hug and kiss i couldn't stretch any further so he litterally had to bend down LOL this happens more to guys since girls mature and grow faster than guys....but then the guys catch up and they dont stop for a while....they keep going. while the girl now stopped or is just growing an inch or two at the most. so now if you see me and my cousin hangin theres a HUGE difference in hight. even when i put on my heels its just sooo funny. and more if you've known us since we were lil. omgoodness its pathedic on how funny it is.

I have a 12 yr old son who on his 12th b-day (6/29) was 4 inches shorter than I, is now (1/23) 3 inches taller than me!
It was the more horrifying experience of my life to have to accept that my son was not only growing up so quickly, but was now taller than me. I have to stand on a footstool or chair when I am griping at him, (usually about his lack of doing his homework) just so I feel I still have some authority. It is hard to be responsible for people you have to look up to.

My friend’s daughter did this in another way.

I saw them at Christmas and at 11 years old she looked like the girl I had always know.

I didn’t see them again until Easter at which point the “child” had matured to a B cup.

I’ve never seen growing like that before.

Yes, my son. I was so concerned because he stayed around 5'2" or 5'3" for the longest time......he's 16. In the last 6 months or so he has grown to 5'9" and getting taller.

I believe they call these 'growth spurts'. My neighbor's son did this. It seems like one day he was just a kid and 3 months later he's almost as tall as his dad.

My cousin used to be short and pudgy, now he is tall and muscular. It happened last year, almost literally overnight. My aunt kept having to buy him new clothes!

ya alot of boys really got alot taller over the summer between freshamn and sophmore year......like this one boy was about 4'11 and over the summer now he's about 5'4
