I was confirmed/diagnosed with pcos last week by the doctor office. They called over the phone and gave me my results...So, then we set up a appointment for today "tues"...My question was for other patients who have been diagnosed with this...DID you get put on meds right away or do you have to wait...I don't just mean fertility drugs either...I hear alot of people go on metformin for weight, help wit insulin, slow of hair growth.....then people usualy take clomind wit it...anyways so i was wondering when you went back to the doctor did you get meds right away to help wit the other parts besides the fertility right away or is there more steps to go through...any advice or help would be great...yes i go to the doctor in three hours....but i can't wait!

thanks

I was put on metformin, but I insisted on the extended release version. There's less stomach upset. I did have a little gastric upset and a headache, but it only lasted a week. Now there are no symptoms. My glucose levels have went down by 18 points.

Something over the counter that can help is USP grade progesterone cream. It must be USP grade. I know many women who started the cream and then began having regular periods. With PCOS, we usually have low progesterone levels and the cream helps.

I was put on metformin right away which makes me sick. After months of treatment they started me on other meds, Good Luck!
