I was confirmed/diagnosed with pcos last week by the doctor office. They called over the phone and gave me my results...So, then we set up a appointment for today "tues"...My question was for other patients who have been diagnosed with this...DID you get put on meds right away or do you have to wait...I don't just mean fertility drugs either...I hear alot of people go on metformin for weight, help wit insulin, slow of hair growth.....then people usualy take clomind wit it...anyways so i was wondering when you went back to the doctor did you get meds right away to help wit the other parts besides the fertility right away or is there more steps to go through...any advice or help would be great...yes i go to the doctor in three hours....but i can't wait!

thanks

I was put on just put on Metformin. Then when I went to a fertility specialist, he put me on Clomid. The Clomid did its job the first month, but I didn't conceive. The next four month the Clomid didn't work. I wasn't getting any mature follicles (eggs). This month I was switched to Follistem injections. I had five mature follicles. I find out in two days if I'm pregnant.

Hope that answered your question. Good luck!!!

It will vary with doctors, where you're located, and your particular case.

We live in Germany with the military so when I had my blood tests done at the clinic, they suspected me but had to send me to a GYN on the economy. I was diagnosed there by trans-vaginal ultrasound. Not ovulating/irregular cycles was my only symptom besides the hormone imbalance that led them to that hypothesis in the first place, so they didn't put me on glucophage or anything like that, never mentioned diet changes, and I was already normal weight. Instead, since the doctor said I seemed to have had this for a while, he put me not only on an herbal supplement (used commonly here in Europe, so I understand) to regulate my cycles, but he wrote me a prescription for clomiphene that same day and I started it as directed with my next cycle. It took until the 3rd round to work, but I did conceive and am due at the end of February. I also noticed on the first ultrasound they gave me for the baby that my ovaries were cleared up (they had looked like balls of cookie dough rolled in m&m's before the medication).

Be prepared to get ovulation predictor kits to make sure what ever treatment they put you on is working and to know when to best time intercourse for conception. Also, if/when they put you on clomiphene, it's not uncommon for it to regulate your cycles at a longer amount of time, mine regulated at 35 days, so keep that in mind when you're taking your OPK's.

Good luck.

IVF (in vitro fertilization) treatment; IUI, ICSI and Laparoscopic surgery is very cheap in India. The cost is very low and the medical services are very good in India.

My cousin and her husband got their IVF treatment in India through the Forerunners Healthcare in India and is all praise for this company. She is a known case of PCOS.She is a very happy mother of a baby boy now. She just paid 2500 pounds for the full IVF treatment in India for which she was quoted 8000 pounds in private setup in UK.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the newspapers. I have also read about a Chinese couple who planned surrogacy through the Forerunners Healthcare. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery and infertility treatment like IVF, IUI, and ICSI abroad for low price. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery and treatment can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
