To hell with mottos, how about some of life's lessons:
Like, why do we get bored with our childhood, rush to grow up, and then long to be children again?.
Why do we lose our health in persuit of money and then lose our money to restore our health?
Why is it that by thinking axniously about the future, we forget the present, such that we live neither the present nor the future?
Why do we live as though we will never die,and die as though we had never lived?.
Why do we not understand that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is one who needs the least?.
Why is it that two people can look at the same thing, and see it differently?
To learn that it is not enough that we forgive one another, but we must also learn to forgive ourselves.
To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in those we love, and it can take many years to heal them.
As for my motto: "Christianity is not a religion,it is a reality".

When my dad was in college he bought a coffee mug that has a great motto on it. When I went away to school he gave it to me, and I've kept it with me since then. It goes:

"O, as you travel thru life Brother,
Whatever be your Goal,
Keep your Eye upon the Doughnut,
and Not upon the Hole."

I have "OWKA "on my cell phone, so whenever I turn it on I am reminded to keep my eye on the prize!

Every Scottish clan has a motto.

My clan's motto is, "SOLA VIRTUS NOBILITAT", which is Latin for, "Virtue Alone is Noble."

Personally, I enjoy quoting the English statesman, Edmund Burke, who is famous for:

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

mine has always been 'do as you would be done by' I first heard it as a child in the novel 'the water babies' by charles kingsley. I try and treat people fairly when I meet them, just as I would like to be treated however if they are mean to me I feel vindicated in treating them likewise.
