He was in a motorcycle crash and seriously hurt but I don't remember him officially dying. On top of that though they made a reference to him in the episode where they graduate from HS. Minkus shows up again. They asked him where he had been and he said he was down that hall. They said they never go down that way because you are never seen again. Minkus said that is ridiculous and then said Hey Mr. Turner. So basically he was written off the show.

His name is Anthony Tyler Quinn and according to both IMDB and TV.com he is alive. His last role was on Passions in 2005.
