I tan a lot and it seems like my skin has a limit on how dark it gets, when I reach a certain point I can't get any darker when I really want to cause it's not as dark as alot of people who are alot darker than me and I want to be just as dark, why is this???????

Honey it sounds like you have reached your tanning plateau. There a couple of ways to get over your plateau. First off find out what type of beds you're using. Are you in a base bed (level 1 or 2) all the time? If so, you should try upgrading to a high pressure bed once or twice a week. Always use a bed with bronzing lamps and never reddening lamps. You should also examine your tanning lotion. If you are using any oils or that crap from Wal-Mart throw it as far away as possible! That crap is not going to help you at all, in fact it hinders the tanning process greatly. I would recommend investing in a high quality lotion. My favorite is Designer Skin because they rock. They have a low maintenance guarantee meaning their bronzers are not going to stain, streak, or turn you orange. If you are already fairly tan then i would use a quadruple bronzer like Speed of Light, Worship Me, or Spellbound. If you are already using a good bronzer then it's time to step up to a tingle. A tingle will increase the microcirculation in your skin and produces a deeper darker tan than you would normally get. Now this lotion will cause reddening and a heating sensation initially but will go away after a few hours and will be replaced with a luscious tan. Go to your salon and ask questions about the lamps and types of beds. The tanning associate will be able to recommend a lotion better in person than I can over the internet because she can see you! Just be careful that you start with a lower level tingle and good luck. Happy Tanning!!

It does depend on your pigmentation in your skin.

Since you seem to have reached your max in color, I really would suggest just going once a week to maintain. It will be cheaper and healthier for you. You will still look good!

You don't want to damage your skin in the long run for a short gain.

Take a look around you girl--everybody is different, and nobody is the exact same color as everyone else. It depends on the amount of melanin (pigment) in your skin. If you're white, you're only going to have so much.

Tanning is determined by the amount of melanin in your skin and everyone is different.

You probably need to get a different taning lotion. Try swedish beauty, a little more money but well worth it.
